もし中国で喫煙と家庭でのバイオマスや石炭燃料の使用が続けば、2003年から2033年の間にCOPDによる死亡が6500万人、肺がんによる死亡が1800万人となり、全ての死亡のそれぞれ19%と5%を占めるだろう。禁煙と調理固形燃料を使うことを削減するための介入によりこの死亡数は減らせる。
