NRCとAAASがAAASのライフサイエンス分野の研究者に対して、有用性もあるがバイオテロなどに悪用される可能性もある二重用途研究についてどう考えているかを調査した。
多くの研究者はバイオテロを差し迫った危機とはみなしていないが、一部の研究者は彼研究成果の誤用を防ぐ対策を執っていることがわかった。
