mBioに発表された新しい解析によれば、特に階層の高い場合は、女性より男性の科学者のほうがはるかに不正行為に関与しやすい。不正行為予防のための介入は主に訓練中の人を対象に行われているが彼らによる不正の割合は低く、本来介入すべきは研究室のボスの方である。

消費者大臣Simon Bridgesが、18か月の子どもが死亡したことを受けてオーストラリアは磁石を禁止すると言う。アメリカでも子どもの入院により同様の対応をしている。
ニュージーランドでは12月に磁石を飲み込んで幼児が入院した
