飲料水へのビタミンD3の投与はビタミンDの安全量を超えるので安全性の懸念となる。ビタミンD3は肌や目への刺激物で、皮膚感作性があり、その吸入は毒性が高い。申請された条件でのビタミンD3は食事からの効果的なビタミン源である。
