Media reports may paint overly optimistic view of cancer

Archives of Internal Medicineの3月22日号に発表された報告によれば、新聞や雑誌のがんに関する報道は積極的な治療やがんからの生還について偏っており死や治療がうまくいかないことや副作用や終末期の緩和療法やホスピスについてはあまり報道しない。
この報告はJAMAのがんについてのメディア向け説明の一環であり、Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine、 Archives of Neurology、Archives of Ophthalmology、 Archives of Dermatology、Archives of Surgery、Archives of Facial Plastic Surgery and Archives of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery各雑誌の3月号でがんの話題を取り上げている。
