昨年10月に地元の‘Queen of Duran’美人コンテストに優勝した19才のCatherine Candoが、賞としてもらった美容外科手術の最中に死亡した。兄はメディアに「彼女は手術を断っていて誰かに譲ろうとしていたが外科医から強く薦められて最終的に折れた」と語っている。外科医は逮捕されたと報道されている。
